Interview with Maximilian in summer 2025
Maxi, how did your season go?
I had some good jumps in training, but they didn't quite translate into the competitions.
What was your personal highlight of the last season – a race, a moment or a special encounter?
The FESA Games were successful for me, with 7th place in the individual competition and 2nd place in the team classification.
Were there any negative experiences last season?
It was difficult for me that some competitions were cancelled when I felt fit, and that in others the results did not meet my expectations.
Which ski jump was the biggest challenge for you this season?
I basically like all ski jumps. But the ski jump in Seefeld challenges me the most.
Which of your results are you particularly proud of – and why?
Second place in the FESA Games in Oberwiesental together with my team.
How did you deal with pressure or nervousness before important competitions – do you have any rituals or strategies?
I learned breathing techniques to lower my heart rate.
Was there a situation in which you surpassed yourself – mentally or athletically?
I have definitely learned to accept that things cannot always go according to my expectations and that sometimes small things make the decisive difference in competing at the front of the field.
How important was the team (coaches, family, teammates) in your development this season?
Whether it's a good season or a bad one, I'm incredibly grateful to have such a helpful and supportive environment. I always feel accepted and well looked after by my family, the coaching team and the Arlberg Ski Club. I hope that I can support the next generation in the future and do my bit to give something back.
What would you say to yourself at the beginning of the season, knowing what you know now?
Don't try too hard to achieve certain results when jumping, just concentrate on your jump. The rest will come naturally.
What are your goals for next season – both in terms of sport and personally?
I want to continue enjoying the sport and just go for it in the air.
In the Austria Cup, I want to consistently jump into the top 3 again.
If you had any injuries, how was your recovery, how are you now and how did you spend the time immediately after the accident or injury?
Thankfully, I've remained injury-free, but I was slowed down twice in winter by a virus. That will pass...
