SCA Championsday 2025

The weather was much better than expected on 21 April 2025, the Arlberg Ski Club's Champions Day, and the region presented itself from its most beautiful side. While the children - some together with their parents - met at 9.00 am for the final training session and all skied down the 'White Ring' together, the first preparations for the awards ceremony were already underway on the sunny terrace of the Hotel Montana in Oberlech. As in previous years, the team around host Patrick Ortlieb once again gave their all to ensure a successful event, which was attended by numerous members of Ski-Club Arlberg.

At 11.00 a.m. on the dot, not only the children of the final training session arrived together with their coaches and parents, but also the guests of honour, the president and vice-president of the SCA as well as all the local branch managers and the Ski Club's organisation team. Together they all celebrated the successful and above all accident-free season. This Champions Day also celebrated the fruits of ski training, which can be seen in the successes of the athletes, among other things. All those who have been able to gain a foothold in a squad are an inspiration and incentive for the next generation and show what can be achieved with hard work, but above all with fun and passion. The great thing is that, in addition to alpine ski racing, the programme also includes other disciplines such as ski mountaineering, freeriding and ski jumping.

All athletes, regardless of whether they are still active or not, have a good relationship with the SCA and are always happy to be part of these events. Children can get autographs from their idols and personal stories are told about their path to success.

Congratulations are in order:

Silver performance badge

Thanks and recognition are a must!

Two of our generous partners, Kurt Redler from Leki and Thomas Haas from Waldhaus Bier, were presented with the green sponsorship badge.

We thanked Juliane Mathis with a bouquet of flowers for her efforts in selling raffle tickets and Conny Mittermayr - also with a bouquet of flowers - for her excellent support in our SCA shop over the past two years.

We would also like to thank our photographer, Dietmar Hurnaus, who took great photos of the children throughout the winter.

Of course, hostess Kathrin Ortlieb also received a bouquet of flowers with thanks for her hospitality.

Nina Ortlieb, who had suffered a serious injury this winter, was back on site on Championsday without crutches, much to everyone's delight, and reported briefly on her successful recovery. Thomas Rotheneder from Autohaus Rohrer, SCA partner, then handed over Nina's new "company car".

We were also able to present our Go4Champions athletes with a gold or silver coin as a token of our thanks. These coins and the small gold bar were provided by The Cochineas Family - ABC Bullion - Sydney.

All in all, it can be said after this day that we were able to look back together on a successful ski season with great fun and a very cosy finale.
