126. Generalversammlung in St. Christoph

On Saturday, 19 September 2026, the 126th Annual General Meeting of the Ski-Club Arlberg took place at the Ski Austria Academy in St. Christoph am Arlberg – the very place where the SCA was founded 125 years ago. The Annual General Meeting thus marked the festive conclusion of our anniversary year.

The Ski-Club Arlberg now has 9,173 members from 61 nations and can look back on an impressive history, having won 118 medals at the Winter Olympics and World Championships.

The St. Anton am Arlberg brass band set the mood right from the start with their performance during the aperitif.

Daniela Schmiederer hosted the official part of the proceedings. Three talks offered fascinating insights into different aspects of the Ski-Club Arlberg: the chairmen of the five local branches provided insights into their work and the unique features of their branches, whilst Nina Ortlieb and Christian Borgnaes shared personal accounts of their journeys in skiing, their successes, challenges and their determination to keep going and fight back time and again in the face of setbacks. whilst historian Christof Thöny, KSC President Michael Huber and SCA Vice-President Stefan Jochum discussed the history and development of the Arlberg Ski Club.

A particular highlight was the presentation of honours to long-standing members. Numerous members were recognised for 35, 40, 50, 60 and even 70 years of membership. In addition, silver and gold achievement badges and green and silver support badges were awarded.

Among others, Tyrol’s Governor Anton Mattle and Vorarlberg’s Provincial Councillor Christian Gantner addressed the Arlberg Ski Club with words of welcome and paid tribute to the importance of the club and the sport of skiing for the region.

We were particularly delighted that Governor Anton Mattle was inducted into the Arlberg Ski Club during the gala evening. As a passionate skier, he has long shared a great enthusiasm for the sport – making it all the more wonderful to now be able to welcome him into our ranks as a member.
Comedian Markus Lindner provided a humorous highlight when, after the official part of the proceedings, he performed a specially written birthday rap, which had the audience in stitches.

The traditional SCA raffle was once again a resounding success. Numerous attractive prizes kept everyone on the edge of their seats, and all proceeds will go towards the SCA’s youth development programme. A heartfelt thank you goes to all those who bought tickets, as well as to our sponsors, who made this raffle possible.

At the festive evening that followed, everyone celebrated together over a delicious meal and live music by Brennholz, raising a toast to 125 years of the Ski-Club Arlberg. The evening finally drew to a lively close in the SCA Bar with DJ Enno.

The 126th Annual General Meeting was thus a fitting conclusion to our anniversary year – an evening that celebrated history, tradition, sport and the people behind the Ski-Club Arlberg.
